The Livingstone Museum houses the most comprehensive memorabilia of the explorer and missionary, Dr. David Livingstone who became the first European to discover the great waterfall which he named the Victoria Falls after Queen Victoria in 1855. A guided tour offers an interesting sight into the life and work of one of the world’s great explorers. There are also very interesting displays on the Stone Age people who first lived in this area and an African cultural section that includes traditional living, medicines and witchcraft. Dambwa Market offers an authentic African market tour in Livingstone. Guests also gain insight into how the local people buy and sell goods such as traditional foodstuffs, basic house ware, fabrics and livestock. The tour lasts around 2 ½ hours and may be booked for the morning or afternoon.
