One of the most magical, romantic and unique experiences available at Victoria Falls during the months from March to July is the Lunar Rainbow tour, provided after the park closes at night fall. During those months the Falls still have a fair amount of water going over, resulting in enough spray to cause a beautiful "Moonbow" over the chasm. The months from March to July are favourable due to the amount of water, and the clear winter skies. Before March the skies are likely to be clouded over, and after July the water level may not provide enough spray.

There is nothing mysterious about a lunar rainbow, it is created in the same way as a normal one, just that the light from the moon refracts through the water particles of the spray rather than sunlight. The effect though is vastly different, it is the Yin to the daytime rainbow's Yang! Seeing the Falls bathed in ethereal moonlight, and the unique moonbow arching over is a sight to behold, and definitely worth planning your trip around!
